The Greek word tzatziki comes from the Turkish word cacik. Turkish food is similar to Greek food. Turkish tzatziki is a little bit different to the Greek version. Turkish cacık is made of yoghurt, salt, olive oil, crushed garlic, chopped cucumber and mint. In addition to these ingredients, vinegar (mostly white grape or apple), lemon juice and sumac are optional. Dill and thyme (fresh or dried) and paprika may alternatively be used. Tzatziki is a dip or a sauce.
