We are a group of students from the Scuola Vivante between the ages of 12 and 16. Every year we make a journey which we plan, prepare for and finance ourselves. This year our destination was Kefalonia in the Ionian sea in Greece.
In 2017 Aliki Panou, a marine biologist, visited us and gave a presentation about monk seals which touched us very much. After that we developed the idea of walking a part of the St. James pilgrimage and to turn it into a charity run for the organisation Achipelagos, which is the organisation she established. In the end we managed to gather around 2000 CHF.
At the beginning of the school year 2017/18 we thought about where we could travel this year. Then we got a invitation from Aliki Panou to come to Kefalonia to visit Archipelagos and see the work that they do. We decided to go there and we’ve spent a lot of time getting to know Greece, Kefalonia and subjects connected to it like Marine Biology, Greek History as well as the Greek Language. This time our goal is to collect even more money for Archipelagos than last year: 20.000.- CHF
